Die vorliegende ÖNORM ist eine Grundlage für die Einteilung von Skipisten in verschiedene Schwierigkeitsgrade sowie für die Markierung und Beschilderung von Skiabfahrten. Einige Festlegungen beziehen sich auch auf Loipen und Skiwanderwege. Sie enthält komplette Darstellungen der Schilder in Richtfarben mit größtenteils auf Erkennbarkeit nach internationalen Verfahren getestete Symbolen. Diese Ausgabe der ÖNORM beschäftigt sich auch mit dem organisierten und freien Skiraum, mit der Skiroutenmarkierung und der Pistenrandkennzeichnung.
