Diese Norm enthält Mindestanforderungen und Prüfungen von in Holz verarbeitenden Betrieben hergestellten Beschichtungen von maßhaltigen Außenbauteilen aus Holz (zB Fenster, Außentüren) zum Schutz vor Witterungseinflüssen und zur optischen Gestaltung zum Zeitpunkt der Auslieferung, sowie Anforderungen zur Verarbeitung der dafür bestimmten Beschichtungsstoffe. Diese ÖNORM gilt nicht für Beschichtungen, die nach ÖNORM B 2230-1 vom Maler hergestellt werden. Diese ÖNORM enthält keine Anforderungen an die zur Herstellung der Beschichtung verwendeten Beschichtungsstoffe hinsichtlich der dazu eingesetzten Rohstoffe, das sind insbesondere Art und Menge der Bindemittel und Pigmente und die chemische Basis der Löse- und Verdünnungsmittel, sowie an die Anzahl der für die Herstellung der Beschichtung notwendigen Arbeitsgänge.
