Die Norm enthält Konstruktionsregeln, die bei der Planung und Ausführung von Holzfenstern eingehalten werden müssen. Außerdem müssen die für Fenster unabhängig vom Werkstoff festgelegten Anforderungen der ÖNORM B 5300 sowie die ÖNORMEN B 2227, B3722 und B 3724 erfüllt werden. Die Norm enthält insbesondere Angaben über die zu verwendenden Werkstoffe, die Zulieferteile (Dichtungsprofile und Beschläge), die Dimensionierung und die zulässigen Maßabweichungen der Fensterprofile, die Ausbildung der Fälze sowie über Rahmenverbindungen und die Verarbeitung.
