Dieses Dokument enthält die besonderen Bestimmungen für die Bauart und Prüfung eigensicherer elektrischer Systeme in Zündschutzart "i", die ganz oder teilweise für die Anwendung in explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen bestimmt sind. Das Dokument stellt eine Ergänzung zu EN 50020 dar. Es ersetzt nicht die Errichtungsbestimmungen für eigensichere elektrische Betriebsmittel, zugehörige elektrische Betriebsmittel und eigensichere elektrische Systeme.
