Gaszentralen die über Rohrleitungen des Verteilungsnetzes von ortsfesten, oberirdischen Druckbehältern mit Gas oder Gasgemischen versorgt werden, sind gemäß dieser ÖNORM auszuführen, einzurichten und zu betreiben. Die Druckbehälter gemäß dieser Norm unterliegen den Bestimmungen der Gruppe I der Dampfkesselverordnung. All jene Gase für die diese Norm anzuwenden ist sowie die dazugehörigen Anforderungen für Leitungen, Armaturen und Dichtungen, sind in Tabellen zusammengefaßt. Bestimmungen über die Einrichtungen von Gaszentralen sowie zusätzliche Anforderungen unter Berücksichtigung der verschiedenen Gasarten, sind ebenfalls enthalten. Weiters sind Bestimmungen über die Prüfungen und den Betrieb angegeben.
