Diese ÖNORM ist auf Geräte anzuwenden, die stationär oder mobil über einen bestimmten Zeitraum für die Beprobung von Wässern und Abwässern in offenen oder geschlossenen Kanalsystemen, für die Zu- und Ablaufbeprobung von kommunalen oder betrieblichen Abwässern sowie zur Überwachung von Fließgewässern, Quellen und Brunnen eingesetzt werden. Geräte für die Entnahme von Abwasser mit besonderen Inhaltsstoffen, zB leicht flüchtigen Stoffen, von besonders aggressivem Abwasser oder Wasser mit sehr hohem Feststoffgehalt sowie Geräte zur Probenentnahme aus Druckleitungen sind nicht Gegenstand dieser ÖNORM. Die Durchflussmessung ist nur so weit Gegenstand dieser ÖNORM, als sie sich auf die Mindestanforderungen für die Steuerung des Samplers bezieht.
