ÖNORM B 5320

This document shall be applied to the design and execution of the installation of windows, door height windows, and exterior doors (hereinafter referred to as “windows”), including the external add-on parts (e.g. sun protection, insect screens and/or ventilation equipment) in walls that are in direct contact with the external climate (e.g. windows for living rooms, garages, basements, and attics). Furthermore, this document also applies to windows between conditioned and unconditioned rooms (e.g. between heated living spaces and unheated areas such as stairwells, garages, basements, and attics). NOTE: Roof windows and roof hatches are not attic windows. Attic windows are, for example, windows in the gable wall. This document applies both to the installation of windows in new buildings and to the replacement of windows during building renovations. For fire protection requirements, the applicability of this document shall be assessed on a case-by-case basis. This document does not apply to the repair or reconstruction of existing windows (e.g. in the context of monument conservation). Furthermore, this document is not applicable to roof windows, rooflights, curtain walls, etc. Connection joints within coupled window constructions are not covered by this document. For this, refer to ÖNORM B 5300.
