Diese ÖNORM ist für Fenster, Fenstertüren und Außentüren zum Schutz gegen Lawinen anzuwenden, und zwar für ein- und mehrflügelige Elemente in allen Öffnungsarten sowie für nicht bewegliche Bauteile (Fixverglasung). Diese ÖNORM ist nicht anwendbar für Fenster, Fenstertüren und Außentüren, die Schutz gegen Steinschlag, Muren oder Hochwasser bieten sollen. Bei besonders starken Katastrophenlawinen können auch Lawinenschutzfenster und -türen keinen hundertprozentigen Schutz bieten. Die Anforderungen dieser ÖNORM gelten für das Produkt zum Zeitpunkt der Lieferung durch den Hersteller.
