This Austrian Standard includes provisions concerning design, testing and marking of door locks (main and additional locks), locking plates, cylinders and door furniture from quality controlled production, which are suitable for installation in burglar resistant doors according to ÖNORM B 5338. This ÖNORM refers to provisions for further burglary resistant retrofitting systems for windows and doors according to DIN 18104-1 and -2 (except additional locks). This building hardware may also be used for retrofitting of already installed shutters. Catch fittings and lock sets for drilled receivers (button locks) as well as locks for sliding doors are not covered by the scope of this ÖNORM. Hinges and safety devices for hinges are not dealt with by this ÖNORM either.
This standard also serves the interchangeability of burglary-resistant building hardware and thus for the sustainable use and longevity of burglary-resistant doors and windows.
