Diese Richtlinie gilt, wenn Gasgeräte für Heizungs- und Warmwasserbereitungsanlagen mit einer Gesamt NWB > 50 kW in einem Raum zur Aufstellung gelangen. Dieser Richtlinie gilt nicht für Anlagen, die in den Geltungsbereich der Richtlinie G 3/1 und G 3/3 fallen. Sie gilt weiters nur für Erdgas gemäß ÖVGW Richtlinie G 31. Die Richtlinie G4 ist als Ergänzung der Richtlinie G 1 (Teil 1-5) bzw. G 6 zu verstehen und enthält darüber hinausgehende Bestimmungen. Anderslautende gesetzliche Bestimmungen und bescheidmäßige Anordnungen werden durch die vorliegende Richtlinie nicht berührt. Sollten solche nicht vorhanden sein, können die Bestimmungen nach Abschnitt 3 herangezogen werden.
