Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM legt die Anforderungen und Prüfungen fest für - metallene Leiter (andere als "natürliche" Leiter), die den Teil der Fangeinrichtung und der Ableitung bilden, - metallene Erder, die den Teil der Erdungsanlage bilden. Blitzschutzbauteile können auch für die Anwendung in gefährlichen Atmosphären geeignet sein. Es sollten dann die besonderen Anforderungen, die für den Einbau dieser Bauteile unter solchen Bedingungen notwendig sind, beachtet werden. Leiter und Erder müssen so gestaltet und konstruiert sein, dass sie unter normaler Anwendung zuverlässig und ohne Gefährdung für Personen und die Umgebung sind. Die Wahl des Werkstoffs ist abhängig von der entsprechenden Anwendung.
