Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM gilt zusätzlich zu ÖVE/ÖNORM E 8001 (alle Teile) bzw. ÖVE-EN 1 (alle Teile) für das Errichten und Prüfen von Starkstromanlagen einschließlich der Sicherheitsstromversorgungsanlagen in Bereichen von baulichen Anlagen für Menschenansammlungen und zugehörenden Rettungswegen, sowie Arbeitsplätzen in Bereichen von baulichen Anlagen für Menschenansammlungen gemäß 1.2. Die Norm legt weiters die Kennzeichnung von Rettungswegen und die Anforderungen der Beleuchtung an Rettungswege bei Störung der allgemeinen Stromversorgung sowie die Mindestanforderung einer solchen Sicherheitsbeleuchtung je nach Größe, Art und Nutzung der baulichen Anlage fest. Diese Norm betrifft die Festlegung einer elektrischen Sicherheitsbeleuchtung an allen Arbeitsplätzen in Bereichen von baulichen Anlagen für Menschenansammlungen und anderen baulichen Anlagen für Menschenansammlungen.
