Dieser Teil von IEC 61215 legt die Anforderungen für die Bauarteignung und Bauartzulassung terrestrischer photovoltaischer Module fest, die für den Langzeitbetrieb in gemäßigten Freiluftklimaten nach IEC 60721-2-1 geeignet sind. Diese Norm ist für die Anwendung auf alle Werkstoffe für terrestrische Flachplattenmodule, wie z. B. Modulbauarten mit kristallinem Silizium, sowie Dünnschichtmodule bestimmt.
