This ON Rule specifies the safe and effective use of buidling hardware according to ÖNORM EN 179, ÖNORM EN 1125 and ÖNORM EN 13637 on escape routes. The ONR does not define the construction method and other requirements for the respective door element. It also specifies provisions for hardware on escape doors in gymnasiums and sports halls as well as on sliding doorsets.
NOTE The designer is responsible for the proper choice of the required hardware type as well as for the correct choice of the necessary clear opening. The requirement has to be related to the intended use; actually, different designs may occur within the same building. Further requirements, such as fire resistance or accessibility for people with a disability shall be considered separately.
