Die Bestimmung des Brennwertes spielt in der Abfallwirtschaft (zB thermische Behandlung, Deponierung von MBA-Material) eine wesentliche Rolle. Die ÖNORM-Serie S 2118 beschreibt Verfahren für die Probenahme und Probenaufbereitung zur Bestimmung des Brennwertes von festen Abfällen. Der vorliegende Teil 1 dieser Normenserie legt ein Verfahren für die Probenahme, die Aufbereitung und die analytische Bestimmung des Brennwertes (oberen Heizwertes: Ho) von mechanisch-biologisch vorbehandelten Abfällen und vergleichbaren Materialien fest.
