This ÖNORM defines requirements for the transport of hazardous waste as dangerous goods in terms of the transport regulations (see ADR, RID and ADN). It serves to classify waste according to these transport regulations and the resulting markings on the packaging or transport units used. Radioactive materials according to the Radiation Protection Act are excluded from the scope of this ÖNORM.
As the provisions for classification, packagings and entries in the transport document or consignment note (see ADR, RID and ADN) are usually identical, the following only refers to ADR and its structure.
For packagings in which dangerous goods (waste) are carried, the packaging provisions laid down in the transport regulations apply.
ADR, RID and ADN also apply to the residual contents of dangerous wastes in packagings.
