Diese Norm beschreibt eine Methode zur Bestimmung der austauschbaren Kationen und der potentiellen Kationen-Austauschkapazität von Böden durch Extraktion mit gepufferter Bariumchlorid-Lösung. Die Bariumchlorid-Lösung ist auf einem pH-Wert von 8,2 gepuffert, daher erfolgt die Extraktion bei einem pH-Wert, der vorwiegend durch die Pufferung der Lösung bestimmt wird (potentielle Austauschkapazität).
