Die vorliegende ÖNORM ISO 34-1 spezifiziert drei Prüfmethoden zur Bestimmung des Weiterreißwiderstandes von Elastomeren: Methode A, Verwendung eines Streifenprobekörpers; Methode B, Verwendung eines Winkelprobekörpers, mit oder ohne Einschnitt von definierter Tiefe; Methode C, Verwendung eines bogenförmigen Probekörpers mit Einschnitt. Der Weiterreißwiderstand ist abhängig von der Form des Probekörpers, der Zuggeschwindigkeit und der Prüftemperatur. Auch Orientierungseffekte im Elastomer können von Bedeutung sein.
