Dieser Teil der EN 927 beschreibt die Leistungskriterien für Beschichtungssysteme auf Holz im Außenbereich. Die Leistungskriterien werden nach den Anwendungskategorien und Beanspruchungsbedingungen anhand der Ergebnisse von Freibewitterungsprüfungen nach EN 927-3 festgelegt. Eine verbindliche Prüfung der Wasserdurchlässigkeit wird ebenfalls beschrieben. Sie dient aber nur zur Orientierung, und es werden keine Grenzwerte festgelegt. Zusätzliche freiwillige Prüfungen werden angegeben, die von Herstellern angewendet werden können, um auf genormter Grundlage wahlweise zusätzliche Informationen über Leistungsaspekte bei speziellen Bauteilen wie Fenstern zu erhalten.
