Diese Norm legt ein Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der Wasserdurchlässigkeit von Beschichtungsstoffen und Beschichtungssystemen für Holz durch Messen der Wasseraufnahme beschichteter Holzplatten fest. Die Prüfung wird mit beschichteten und unbeschichteten Platten durchgeführt. Nach dem Ergebnis der Prüfung bildet die Wasseraufnahme nach 72 h die Grundlage zur Berechnung der Wasserschutzleistung (WPE, englisch: water protection efficiency) der Beschichtungen und des Beschichtungssystems.
