Behandelt sind Schutzhandschuhe, die die Hände vor konvektiver Hitze, Strahlungswärme, Kontaktwärme, Schweißperlen und/oder großen Mengen flüssigen Metalls schützt. Die spezifischen Werte der verschiedenen Leistungsstufen werden durch die speziellen Anforderungen für jede Risikoklasse oder einen speziellen Verwendungsbereich bestimmt. Neben den Anforderungen an die thermischen Eigenschaften werden auch Anforderungen an chemische, physikalische und mechanische Eigenschaften der Schutzhandschuhe gestellt. Die Handschuhe sind als Fünffinger, Dreifinger oder als Fausthandschuhe ausgeführt.
