Die Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Standvermögens von Dichtstoffen fest, die zur Abdichtung von Fugen in lotrechten Flächen im Hochbau verwendet werden. Im Zuge des Prüfverfahrens werden Proben des zu prüfenden Dichtstoffes in U-Profilen aus Aluminium für eine bestimmte Zeit verschiedenen festgelegten Temperaturen ausgesetzt, wobei sich die Oberfläche des Dichtstoffes in einer lotrechten Lage befindet. Am Ende der Prüfzeit wird das Ausfließen des Dichtstoffes aus den U-Profilen gemessen.
