Diese Europäische Norm legt Anforderungen an vorgefertigte selbsttragende Sandwich-Dämmelemente mit beidseitiger Metalldeckschicht fest, die für überlappende Verlegung auf Dächern und Dachdeckungen, Außenwänden und Wandverkleidungen sowie Wänden (einschließlich Trennwänden) und Decken innerhalb des Gebäudes bestimmt sind. Zu den von dieser Europäischen Norm behandelten Dämmkernwerkstoffen gehören Polyurethan-Hartschaum, expandiertes Polystyrol, extrudierter Polystyrolschaum, Phenolharzschaum und Mineralwolle. Produkte, die aus zwei oder mehr deutlich voneinander unterschiedlichen Schichten aus verschiedenen Dämmkernwerkstoffen bestehen (Mehrschicht-Produkte), werden in dieser Europäischen Norm nicht behandelt. Diese Europäische Norm gilt nicht für Sandwich-Elemente, deren Dämmkern nach Alterung bei 10 °C eine Wärmeleitfähigkeit über 0,06 W/(m . K) hat. Diese Europäische Norm gilt auch für Elemente mit Kantenausführungen, für die verschiedene Werkstoffe aus dem Hauptdämmkern verwendet werden, d.h. mit PVC-Extrusionen oder Kantenausführungen aus geformter Mineralwolle.
