Festgelegt werden Anforderungen an Werkstoffe, an die Konstruktion, die Herstellung sowie an Ausrüstungsteile mit Sicherheitsfunktion, weiters die Prüfung und die Dokumentation für ortsfeste Rohrleitungen für Kälteanlagen, Wärmepumpen und indirekte Kühl- und Heizsysteme. Diese ÖNORM gilt für Rohrleitungen mit angeschweißten oder angelöteten Bauteilen und für die Auswahl, Anwendung und den Einbau von Ausrüstungsteilen mit Sicherheitsfunktion zum Schutz der Rohrleitungen während der verschiedenen Phasen des Kältemittelkreislaufs. Es wird dabei Bezug genommen auf Wärmeaustauscher, bestehend aus Rohrleitungen zum Kühlen oder Erhitzen von Luft, auf Rohrleitungen innerhalb von Kältesätzen und auf vor Ort montierte Rohrleitungen.
