Sie behandelt Unterdecken und Deckenbekleidungen, die als vollständige Bausätze verkauft werden (wahlweise einschließlich Beleuchtung und ähnlicher Zubehörteile), Unterkonstruktionen, die als Bausätze verkauft werden, einzelne Komponenten (Produkte) der Unterkonstruktion sowie Decklagenelemente. Sie schließt sowohl Prüf- und Bewertungsverfahren als auch Festlegungen für die Konformitätsbeurteilung von Produkten entsprechend den Anforderungen dieser Norm und Decklagenelemente ein. Diese Norm enthält Gebrauchstauglichkeitsklassen entsprechend den wesentlichen Anforderungen, die in der EG-Bauproduktenrichtlinie 89/106/EWG enthalten sind.
