ÖNORM B 5021

This ÖNORM defines hygienic requirements for operation, monitoring and rehabilitation with regard to achieving and maintaining the water quality of decentralized drinking water heating systems. The aim of this ÖNORM is, that the water is not adversely affected microbiologically by the drinking water heating system. The purpose of the routine controls provided for in this ÖNORM is to provide regular information on the quality of the water provided for human consumption, as well as information on the effectiveness of the DHW heating system, in order to determine whether the water intended for human consumption complies with the legal requirements and corresponds to the state of the art. The indicator function of parameters, which are used in laws and standards, serves to ensure that, if certain values are exceeded, remedial measures for the restoration of water quality serve to protect human health. The requirements of this ÖNORM B 5021 are based on International, European and National laws, regulations, guidelines, standards, recommendations as well as research results and practical experience. There are, for example, recommendations and guidelines of the World Health Organization - WHO, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control - ECDC, COUNCIL DIRECTIVE 98/83 / EC of 3 November 1998 on the quality of water intended for human consumption - Drinking Water Directive (DWD), the German Drinking Water Regulation - TrinkwV 2001, the Austrian Drinking Water Regulation - TWV and the Austrian Food Book - LMB Chapter B1 drinking water.
