Diese Norm regelt alle vorbeugend wirksamen Maßnahmen im Zusammenhang mit der Verwendung von Holzschutzmitteln und ist gemeinsam mit ÖNORM B 3801 und ÖNORM B 3803-2 und -3 anzuwenden. Diese Norm ist auf nicht maßhaltige Holzbauteile anzuwenden, wobei zwischen solchen, die eine tragende und/oder aussteifende Funktion haben, und solchen, die statisch nicht belastet sind, unterschieden wird. Für vorbeugende chemische Holzschutzmaßnahmen für Fenster und Außentüren ist ÖNORM B 3803 zu beachten. Unter tragenden und/oder aussteifenden Bauteilen sind Primärkonstruktionsteile (zB Sparren und Pfetten) und Sekundärkonstruktionsteile (zB Dachschalungen und Latten) zu verstehen. Unter statisch nicht belasteten Bauteilen werden zB Zaunlatten und Fassadenschalungen verstanden.
