CIRCE Biotechnology is a high-tech company based in Vienna and is specialised in alternative proteins, such as producing direct substitutes for animal feed. Gas fermentation is becoming a key new technology. The solution from CIRCE Biotechnology enables gas fermentation to be used for bioplastics and food.

Kompetenzzentrum Holz – Wood K plus

Kompetenzzentrum Holz in Upper Austria is a research institution for wood and related renewable raw materials. Its core competencies are in material research and process technology along the entire value chain – from raw materials to the finished product. A sustainable adhesive was developed as part of the SUSBIND project. The solution from Kompetenzzentrum Holz means that a sustainable adhesive can be used in the timber industry and plays a key role in the bio-economy.

The Upper Austrian start-up BergWind Energy offers tailored wind energy solutions for ski resorts, companies and agriculture. Its expertise ranges from site analyses to plant maintenance, with the aim of promoting sustainable energy efficiency and protection of the environment. With the solution from BergWind Energy, wind energy can be used on ropeway installations.

Alfred Radauer | IMC Krems

IMC Krems interlinks the increasing importance of standards with selected courses and contract research projects, meaning the awareness of students in business administration, management and innovation management courses is heightened at an early stage.

BirdShades Innovations

The Graz-based start-up BirdShades offers a transparent window film with a special coating, which makes window surfaces visible to birds. Its vision is to prevent birds colliding with windows – the second-biggest threat to birds caused by humans worldwide. The solution from BirdShades protects birds and takes their natural behaviour into account.

Melanie Klinger | FH Wien der WKW

In the complex world of home ownership, the current legal situation and ÖNORM standards often come into conflict. Melanie Klinger, property sector graduate and employee at Klinger Immobilien, carried out an analysis in her master's thesis as to how case law relates to ÖNORM standards in the field of home ownership.

Holloid

The Vienna-based start-up Holloid specialises in holographic imaging and cytometry. Its vision is to launch high-speed 3D imaging with optical characterisation onto the market – for identifying particles, cells and micro-organisms. The solution from Holloid improves the quality and safety of medicines and food as well as in the synthetic industry and green chemistry.

XREye

The research project XREye from TU Wien simulates visual impairments with augmented reality in collaboration with well-known ophthalmologists. This gives designers and architects, for example, the opportunity to experience challenges which people with visual impairments are confronted with. The solution from XREye contributes to ensuring a more inclusive society and accessible surroundings.

MATR

The Vienna-based start-up MATR is dedicated to preventing waste in the mattress industry and for its customers. Its aim is to distribute a top-class and innovative mattress solution in the European hotel industry and beyond. The mattresses are manufactured such that no waste is produced and the materials can be returned for reuse in the industry or natural environment. The solution from MATR provides recyclable mattresses with a circular as-a-service offering.
