Diese Richtlinie gilt für den Aufbau und die Herstellung von Umhüllungen von Schweißnähten, blanken Rohrleitungsteilen und Formstücken (wie Bögen, Abzweiger, Flüssigkeitsabscheider, Schieber, Flansche, Isolierstücke etc.) sowie für die Fehlstellenabdeckung an der werkseitig angebrachten Rohrumhüllung an erdverlegten metallenen Rohrleitungen mit Bändern und/oder wärmeschrumpfenden Materialien nach den ÖNORM EN 12068. Diese Richtlinie gilt auch für "zusätzliche Umhüllungen" wie unter Abschnitt 6 beschrieben. Diese Richtlinie gilt nicht für werkseitig gesintert oder extrudiert aufgebrachte Umhüllungen. Weiters werden in dieser Richtlinie die gebräuchlichsten Arten des mechanischen Schutzes von Werksumhüllungen sowie von Umhüllungsverbunden behandelt (Schutz des passiven Schutzes).
