Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM legt die allgemeinen Anforderungen an Konstruktion, Aufbau, Prüfung und Kennzeichnung fest für elektrische Betriebsmittel mit Schutz durch anerkannte Zündschutzarten für die Verwendung in Bereichen, in denen Staub in entzündungs- oder explosionsfähiger Konzentration vorhanden sein kann. Dieser Teil der EN 61241-0 ist für Betriebsmittel der Kategorien 1D, 2D und 3D anzuwenden. Die Anforderungen für die Kategorien 1D, 2D und 3D unterscheiden sich nur, wenn dies besonders erwähnt ist.
