Es erfolgt eine Klassifikation von elektrischen und elektro-nischen Betriebsmitteln im Hinblick auf den Schutz gegen elektrischen Schlag bei fehlerhafter Isolation. Das Dokument beschreibt keine Anforderungen für Aufbau, Konstruktion und Prüfung dieser Betriebsmittel. Diese Betriebsmittel sind zum Anschluß an externe Energie- versorgung von max. 440 V verketteter Spannung (bzw. max. 250 V zwischen Phase und Erde) vorgesehen und für den all- gemeinen Gebrauch zu Hause, im Büro, Geschäften, Schulen und ähnlichem und für medizinische Zwecke bestimmt.
