Dieser Teil der Reihe IEC 61439 legt die allgemeinen Begriffe und die Betriebsbedingungen, Bauanforderungen, technischen Eigenschaften und Anforderungen für Nachweise für Niederspannungs-Schaltgerätekombinationen fest. Zum Zweck der Feststellung der Konformität einer Schaltgerätekombination sind die Anforderungen der jeweiligen Schaltgerätekombinationsnorm der Reihe IEC 61439 anzuwenden, ab Teil 2 aufwärts, zusammen mit den zitierten Anforderungen dieses Dokuments. Für Schaltgerätekombinationen, die nicht in den Anwendungsbereich der Teile 3 und folgende fallen, ist Teil 2 anzuwenden.
