Die vorliegende Internationale Norm gilt für Steckverbinder zur Verwendung in Gleichstromkreisen von Photovoltaik-Anlagen nach Schutzklasse II der IEC 61140:2001 mit Bemessungsspannungen bis 1 500 V Gleichstrom und Bemessungsströmen bis 125 A je Kontakt. Die vorliegende Norm gilt für Steckverbinder ohne Lastschaltvermögen, die jedoch spannungsführend getrennt und gesteckt werden können. Diese Norm gilt auch für Steckverbinder, die in Gehäuse von Einrichtungen von PV-Anlagen eingebaut oder integriert werden sollen. Diese Norm darf auch als Leitfaden für Steckverbinder der Schutzklassen 0 und III nach IEC 61140:2001 sowie für Schutzklasse-II-Betriebsmittel für eine Verwendung bei weniger als 50 V Gleichstrom in Photovoltaik-Anlagen angewandt werden.
