Diese Bestimmung enthält Prüfverfahren für die Prüfung polymerer Isolier- und Mantelwerkstoffe von Kabeln und isolierten Leitungen zur Energieverteilung und Nachrichtenübertragung einschließlich Schiffskabeln. Dieser Hauptabschnitt 1 des Teils 4 beschreibt Verfahren fürdie Ermittlung der Spannungsrißbeständigkeit, für die Wickelprüfung nach thermischer Alterung in Luft, für die Messung des Schmelzindexes und für die Bestimmung des Ruß- und/oder Füllstoffgehalts. Diese Verfahren werden angewandt für PE- und PP-Mischungen einschließlich geschäumter Mischungen und "foam skin" für Isolierungen.
