Stabilized filling materials (SFM) are accordingly conditioned materials for the filling of trenches, based on natural, manufactured or recycled aggregates or combinations of these, which, in a free-flowing state, are placed into trenches or caverns. The ensuing hardening process leads to the required strength and bearing capacity. However, manual re-excavation using pickaxes or shovels remains feasible during their useful life. "Stabiliziation" in the context of this ÖNORM comprises mechanical stabilization, e. g. appropriately graded particle size distribution curve, or hydraulic stabilization using up to 50 kg of binder per m3.
