Dieser Teil der ÖNORM S 5220 enthält Anforderungen an Messstellen, die entsprechend ÖNORM S 5220-1 Inkorporationsmessungen durchführen und aus den Messwerten gemäß ÖNORM S 5220-3 (Berechnungsgrundlagen) die effektive Dosis berechnen, die Ergebnisse dokumentieren und darüber berichten. Diese ÖNORM ist auf Messstellen anzuwenden, die Inkorporationsüberwachungen zur Erfüllung der gesetzlichen Vorschriften durchführen. Diese ÖNORM soll dazu beitragen, dass Messungen und Auswertungen nach dem Stand von Wissenschaft und Technik durchgeführt werden, dass die Vergleichbarkeit der Ergebnisse und eine einheitliche Aufzeichnung und Übermittlung sowie die Qualität der Inkorporationsüberwachung sichergestellt werden.
