Diese ÖNORM beschreibt zwei Methoden zur Bestimmung des Schmelzpunktes in offenen Kapillarrohren, meist als Rutschpunkt (Fließpunkt) bezeichnet. Die Methode ist für tierische und pflanzliche Fette und Öle geeignet. Methode A ist für Fette und Öle, die bei Raumtemperatur fest sind und kein ausgeprägtes polymorphes Kristallisationsverhalten zeigen, geeignet, Methode B für alle Fette und Öle, die bei Raumtemperatur fest oder pastös sind. Methode B sollte auch für Fette verwendet werden, deren polymorphes Kristallisationsverhalten unbekannt ist.
