Diese ÖNORM beschreibt eine Methode für die empirische und konventionelle Bestimmung des biochemischen Sauerstoffbe- darfes (BSB) in Wasser nach dem Verdünnungsprinzip. Die Methode ist auf alle Wässer mit einem BSB zwischen 3mg/l und6000 mg/l anwendbar. Die Versuchsdauer ist 5 Tage, die Probewird bei 20 Grad Celsius gelagert. Der biochemische Sauerstoffbedarf wird als jene Massenkon- zentration an gelöstem Sauerstoff definiert, der durch bio- logische (hier biochemische) Oxidation von organischen und/ oder anorganischen Wasserinhaltsstoffen unter den Unter- suchungsbedingungen verbraucht wird.
