Zweck dieser ÖNORM ist es, Anforderungen an die physikalische, chemische und bakteriologische Beschaffenheit des Wassers von Hallenbädern und künstlichen Freibeckenbädern festzulegen, deren Einhaltung eine gesundheitliche Gefährdung des Badenden ausschließen soll. Die Begriffe "Füllwasser", "aufbereitetes Wasser" und "Beckenwasser" werden definiert, die chemischen und bakteriologischen Anforderungen an diese Wasserarten festgelegt.
