Dieser Teil der ISO 815 legt Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Druckverformungsrest-Eigenschaften von Elastomeren und thermoplastischen Elastomeren bei Umgebungstemperatur und erhöhten Temperaturen fest. Die Verfahren sind dazu bestimmt, die Fähigkeit von Elastomeren im Härtebereich von 10 IRHD bis 95 IRHD zu messen, seine elastischen Eigenschaften bei vorgegebener Temperatur nach längerer Druckbeanspruchung bei konstanter Verformung (möglichst 25 %) unter einer der als Alternative hier beschriebenen Bedingungen beizubehalten. Bei Elastomer mit einer Härte von 80 IRHD und größer wird eine geringere Verformung angewandt: 15 % bei einer Nennhärte von 80 IRHD bis 89 IRHD und 10 % bei einer Nennhärte von 90 IRHD bis 95 IRHD.
