Dieser Teil der Internationalen Norm bietet den Rahmen für die Auswertung von Biokontaminationsdaten, die nach ÖNORM EN ISO 14698-1 erhoben wurden. Die Anwendung auf Biokontaminationsdaten, die nach anderen Systemen erhoben wurden, ist ebenfalls zulässig. Dieser Teil der Norm gibt Hinweise hinsichtlich Verfahren zur Auswertung mikrobiologischer Daten und zur Abschätzung der Ergebnisse der Sammlung lebensfähiger Partikel in Risikobereichen der Biokontamination. Soweit möglich, sollte er in Verbindung mit ÖNORM EN ISO 14698-1 genutzt werden. Diese ÖNORM enthält die Europäische Berichtigung AC:2006 mit der die Begriffe 3.1 Aktionsgrenze(n), 3.2 Warngrenze, 3.10 potenzielle Gefahrenquelle und 3.13 Zielwert korrigiert wurden.
