Diese Europäische Norm legt die allgemeinen Eigenschaften von Bodenbelägen auf der Basis aus Polyvinylchlorid und dessen Modifikationen mit einem Rücken auf Korkbasis fest, die sowohl in Form von Platten als auch als Rollen geliefert werden. Um den Verbraucher bei seiner Auswahl zu unterstützen, enthält diese Norm ein Klassifizierungssystem (siehe EN 685) auf Basis der Nutzungsintensität, das zeigt, wo für diese Bodenbeläge ein zufriedenstellender Nutzen möglich wäre. Die Norm legt auch die Anforderungen zur Kennzeichnung fest.
