Für erdverlegte Fernwärmenetze sind die Anforderungen an Verbindungen, welche unter Baustellenbedingungen hergestellt werden, für die einzelnen vorgefertigten, gedämmten Verbundmantelrohrelemente beschrieben. Die Methoden für die Typprüfung unter Laborbedingungen sind festgelegt. Die Verarbeitungsrichtlinien sowie die erforderliche Qualifikation der Arbeitskräfte ist angeführt. Hinweise auf Schweißverfahren sind im normativen Anhang A gegeben. Der informative Anhang B beschreibt die Richtlinien für die Inspektion der Stahlschweißer sowie der Dämmung und Dichtung auf der Baustelle in Tabellenform. Die Funktionsanforderungen an die fertigen Verbindungen sind im informativen Anhang C beschrieben. Diese Norm stellt eine Erweiterung zur Basisnorm EN 253 dar.
