Dieser Teil von EN 1555 legt Anforderungen an die Gebrauchstauglichkeit von Rohrleitungssystemen aus Polyethylen (PE) fest, die für die Gasversorgung eingesetzt werden. Er legt auch Begriffe für Heizwendelschweißverbindungen, Heizelementstumpfschweißverbindungen und mechanische Verbindungen fest. Darüber hinaus sind in dieser Norm die Verfahren für die Vorbereitung der Verbindungen von Probekörpern sowie der Prüfungen, die für die Beurteilung der Gebrauchstauglichkeit des Systems unter üblichen Bedin-gungen sowie unter Grenzbedingungen durchgeführt werden, festgelegt. Sie legt auch die Prüfparameter für die Prüfverfahren fest, auf die in dieser Norm verwiesen wird. In Verbindung mit den übrigen Teilen der EN 1555 (siehe Vorwort) gilt dieser Teil für Rohre, Formstücke und Armaturen aus PE, deren Verbindungen untereinander sowie mit Rohrleitungsteilen aus anderen Werkstoffen, die unter den folgenden Bedingungen für die Gasversorgung vorgesehen sind: a) der maximal zulässige Betriebsdruck MOP beträgt höchstens10 bar; b) es gilt eine Betriebstemperatur von 20 °C als Bezugstemperatur.
