Behandelt sind Grundbegriffe und allgemeine Gestaltungsleitsätze für Verriegelungseinrichtungen ohne Zuhaltung und mit Zuhaltung, unabhängig von der Energieart, sowie technische Anforderungen für elektrische Verriegelungseinrichtungen. Umfaßt sind die Teile einer trennenden Schutzeinrichtung, die Verriegelungseinrichtungen betätigen. Anforderungen für trennende Schutzeinrichtungen sind in EN 953 aufgeführt. Die Verarbeitung des von der Verriegelungseinrichtung ausgehenden Signals zum Anhalten und Stillsetzen der Maschine ist in EN 954-1 behandelt. Diese ÖNORM enthält die Europäische Änderung A1:2007 mit Abschnitt 5.7 und Abschnitt "Literaturhinweise" geändert wurden.
