Diese Technische Spezifikation gilt für die Bestimmung der Korndichte von Böden mit dem Pyknometerverfahren im Rahmen von geotechnischen Untersuchungen nach ENV 1997. Das Pyknometerverfahren besteht in einer Bestimmung des Volumens einer bekannten Masse von Boden mittels Flüssigkeitsverdrängung. Die Korndichte wird bestimmt aus der Masse des Bodens uns seinem Volumen. Das Verfahren ist anwendbar bei Bodenarten mit Korndurchmessern kleiner als 4 mm.
