Die in dieser Norm beschriebenen Prüfungen dienen dazu, das Verhalten von Elastomeren mit Ausnahme von Schaumstoffen unter der Einwirkung von Flüssigkeiten, im folgenden auch "einwirkender Stoff" oder "Prüfmittel" genannt, festzustellen. Fette sind als hochviskose Flüssigkeiten aufzufassen. Diese Norm kann sowohl für Entwicklungsarbeiten und für die Überwachung des Langzeitverhaltens als auch für Prüfungen im Rahmen der Güteüberwachung angewendet werden.
