In dieser ÖNORM werden Anforderungen an Fluxbitumen, die im Straßenbau verwendet werden, festgelegt, hingegen sind polymermodifizierte Fluxbitumen nicht Gegenstand dieser ÖNORM. Für die Anwendung dieser Norm gilt weiters die folgende Definition: Fluxbitumen: Zubereitungen aus Straßenbaubitumen und geeigneten schwerflüchtigen Ölen (Fluxölen) zum Zwecke der Erzielung einer gewünschten Viskosität. Fluxbitumen nach dieser ÖNORM werden bezeichnet mit dem Kurzzeichen FB für Fluxbitumen und der Zahl 500 bzw. 1000, abhängig von der Viskosität. Als Ausgangsbitumen für Fluxbitumen nach dieser ÖNORM sind nur solche Bitumen zulässig, die der ÖNORM B 3610 entsprechen. Die Fluxöle dürfen weder Teeröle noch Halogen-Kohlenwasserstoffe enthalten. Ebenso sind verunreinigte Produkte, zB Altöl oder Reinigungslösung nicht zulässig.
