ÖNORM B 2506-2

This ÖNORM deals with the methods of purifying stormwater prior to its infiltration into the ground by means of soakaways. As far as the purification of this kind of water is necessary, this ÖNORM defines the requirements for dimensioning, construction and operation of purification plants. This ÖNORM is applicable for the dissipation of effluents from roof areas, paved or fixated ground areas, e.g. courtyards, vehicle access areas, walkways, terraces, parking areas for passenger cars, storage and handling areas as well as secondary traffic areas (loading rate up to 5000 vehicle units/day). It is not applicable for the dissipation of effluents from high-ranking traffic areas, e.g. highways or principal roads, Effluents from areas from which - due to the storage or handling of substances which are dangerous for the quality of the groundwater - contamination may be expected, are in general not subject of this standard; however, in special cases the responsible authority may decide about the acceptance of the dissipation system and in concern of the required measures for purification and safety.
