In dieser ÖNORM werden die Grundsätze für Bemessung, Bau, Betrieb, Wartung und Überprüfung der Reinigungswirkung von Kläranlagen mit einer Ausbaugröße von 51 bis 500 Einwohnerwerten (EW) festgelegt, denen häusliches Abwasser oder ähnliches Abwasser mit ausreichender Säurekapazität zugeleitet wird. In dieser ÖNORM sind Anlagen zur biologischen Reinigung des Abwassers mit oder ohne mechanischer Reinigung erfaßt, jedoch keine Anlagen mit bepflanzten Bodenfiltern (Pflanzenkläranlagen).
